About the School

Welcome to Anderson Middle School. With around 450 students in attendance, we emphasize academic excellence, responsibility for your actions and respect for others. Our school colors are blue and gold. Our school mascot is the Cougar.

Our school was built in July 1949, the 100 and 200 wings only. In 1958 the 400, 500 and 600 wings were added. The original Anderson Elementary (now Anderson Middle School) was built with two bond elections, which totaled $44,000.00 in the year 1946.  The eleven acres the school still sits on cost the Cascade Union Elementary School District $2,500.00.  In 1953, another two bonds was passed in Anderson for a total of $122,000.00. Some of this money was used to buy five more acres of land and the five houses that were on the properties. These five acres cost a total of $42,450.00. In 1955, the Anderson Annex was completed which included more classrooms as well. In 1958, an $84,000.00 bond was passed and a science room and library were added to AMS.  Portables were installed in the 90’s and the new gym in 2014. Throughout the years, there have been other upgrades to the library, bathrooms, roofing, paving, sports fields, the track and other parts of the grounds. Solar arrays for the AMS campus were completed in 2019.

We offer a core curriculum in Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Physical Education. Electives include Band, Student Technology Team, Choir, Robotics, Art, Community Service and Leadership.

The faculty and staff are pleased to have you as a student and are committed to your success. We firmly believe that ALL students have the right to a positive academic and social experience. Go Cougars!
